Oh, hey there. I walked outside today go to pick up my daughter from the school bus stop and thought to myself, why is it so hot? IT IS SEPTEMBER. It should immediately drop to 75 degrees once we get into this month, lol. But alas, it’s still 90 degrees and the humidity is too dang high. Thanks South Carolina! But what does this have to do with Blake & Hannah’s anniversary session? Well, when we shot these, back in May, BUDDY, it was HOT. But so was this session, some would say, it was LIT (forgive me for being lame, lol) 😀
I shot Blake & Hannah’s adorable outdoor wedding back in May of 2016. You can see that post HERE. You can also view their engagement photos HERE as well 🙂 They were adorable then, and nothing has changed. They may have grown a little as a couple, but my interaction with them was exactly the same and even more fun than any time before. I was running a model call for couples to fill out my summer a little bit and Hannah volunteered her and Blake. Immediate excitement on my part, haha. We just treated it as an anniversary session and went with it. Not only was it great getting to see them again, but it was just a great time shooting with them again. We laughed a ton, witnessed a duck murder (more on that below) unfortunately, and overall had a great time.
I could easily just share all of their photos from this session because I loved all of them so much! But I tried to keep it chill and only share a handful with you guys. So here are my faves 🙂
^^^Okay, so…..we were being all peaceful, just shooting away. I had Blake & Hannah sitting on this rock by the pond. Meanwhile, some ducks start swimming by. A few white ducks and then some random black duck. All of a sudden this black duck darts after one of the white ducks and literally held it under water until it died 😥 A straight up duck murder! It was awful! Blake tried throwing sticks and rocks at the duck so maybe it would let go and leave the other duck alone, but it didn’t work. RIP white ducky
I will forever encourage each couple of mine to take time for yourselves and celebrate your anniversary by getting photos made. I know once you get married you may not have as much time for things like that and sometimes it’s just nice to set this time aside and enjoy yourselves. Just have someone photograph you while doing it 😉
Thank you Blake & Hannah as always for being such wonderful models and clients for this shoot! I welcome you both forever and always to come and model for me 🙂
I don’t do very many maternity sessions. I don’t know why, I like doing them, I just don’t get many inquiries for them. But when I do, they are usually from amazing couples that I’ve worked with previously (or not, but then become recurring clients!). One of those couples being Chris & Jessica. You may remember them from my styled shoots that I’ve done in the past. They are beyond some of my favorite shoots ever and they just never get old to me. I don’t think I blogged our very first session, but you can see their photos over on the JMP Facebook page HERE (This was back in 2012, so ignore my giant watermark. We all have come a long way in four years! lol). You can also see our other sessions HERE, HERE, & HERE.
As always, I love working with Chris & Jess because they are just so open to anything and fun, yet very laid back. I personally don’t think we’ve ever gotten a bad photo of them, haha. And this session is absolutely no different. Jess is such a beautiful pregnant woman with this perfectly round belly. I can’t exaggerate how perfect her little belly was, haha. She wanted to take photos in this gorgeous flowing dress in a creek and OMGAH, I was totally down for it. It was really hot that day (I’m pretty sure Chris was about to sweat himself to death that day, lol), so the water in the creek was very refreshing.
Since then, of course, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl! She is absolutely adorable and I can’t wait until I am able to get some pictures of this child. She’s the perfect combination of Chris & Jessica.
Without further ado, here are just a few of my favorites from Chris & Jessica’s Maternity/Anniversary session 🙂
Also, I 100% encourage anyone to go to Glendale Shoals for pictures, playing, whatever. It’s so nice and calm over there. I just love it.
Chris & Jess, I’m totally ready whenever you wanna take pictures again, haha. And I know I told you all this the day she was born, but congratulations on your beautiful baby girl! She’s going to be the most spoiled little nugget in the world 😛
Nick & Lisa are such an adventurous and fun couple. I learned that upon friending Lisa on Facebook once they booked their wedding with me. I worked with them on their engagements in the fall of 2014 (HERE) and for Lisa’s bridals in April of 2015 (HERE) before the big day. I got to know them over a years time and it was always a great time when I was working with either of them. So when we got to their wedding day, it was so calm and just…awesome. The day went amazing as I got to know their families a little bit before the wedding and we were all acquainted with one another. Plus, it was a super gorgeous day for an outdoor wedding at The Bird House and that excited me alone, haha. This is the reason why I always recommend engagements (at least) for all of my engaged couples. (Maybe a new blog post? 😉
There are so many amazing details from Nick & Lisa’s beautiful wedding, it was seriously really hard to pick a good handful to post on this blog and not the entire wedding, lol. The Bird House is also an an amazingly beautiful location for a wedding and reception, especially mid May when the peach trees are full of leaves and super tiny green peaches (not ready for those, then, unfortunately).
Here are many faves from their wedding and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Also? I HIGHLY encourage first looks solely based on Nick & Lisa’s. It was such a beautiful moment between them and I’m so honored that I was there to document it.
You guys, you have no idea how hard it was narrowing it down to these alone. There are so many amazing photos from their wedding. Nick & Lisa, thank you both for having me document your big day with all of your wonderful friends and family. I, again, wish you both the best in your marriage and lives and hope you’ve had an (almost!) wonderful year of marriage!
I always have a favorite or two, three….okay, maybe ten (or all) photos from each session/wedding that I do. It’s inevitable. But this year, I think takes the cake. I shot so much this year that I love and absolutely can’t wait for what 2015 has in store for me!
I’m just going through everything that I’ve shot in 2014 and putting them up, no particular order folks 😉
Nathan & Krista were my first shoot of 2014! And it started off the year with glorious-ness and amazing photos with two amazing people! I’ve loved this photo from the moment it was created and it’s DEFINITELY one of my faves of the year 🙂 Continue reading →
Every year, I strive to do one kind of styled shoot. It helps me get more creative and I can do whatever I want with the people I’m working with. I’ve done them for what is now the second year, but STILL….it’s a THING now, lol. Every single year, I work with this marvelous couple. Chris & Jessica are just awesome people and an even more amazing couple. They are so creative and let me do my thing. It’s just AWESOME.
This year, me and Jessica were in the talks of doing an apple orchard styled shoot (which I STILL want to do!), BUT! The apple orchard wasn’t even open when we shot this session, so that kind of shot that idea out of the water, lol. Jess brought it up about a bohemian-chic kind of shoot. And it was PERFECT! They were perfect for it. We had a little issue finding a field to shoot in, but it all worked out. We got to shoot this RIGHT at their wedding anniversary as well, which is what we done last year. Makes these little sessions, just that much more special 🙂
I got to explore the area where we were and gave a couple of different styles to this themed shoot. With the bright sun, some deep green pine and some warm sunlight, to the sun setting at just the right time, it was all perfect. Except the heat, no….that heat was terrible. I could’ve done without that, haha. Anyway, here is my take on a Bohemian-Chic Styled Shoot.
There’s this thing that Chris & Jessica have done with me for the past two shoots where they want to take a photo together of the photo from the previous anniversary. Last summer was their 1st wedding anniversary, so they took a photo from their wedding. This year includes last years styled shoot and the wedding photo! Photoception, my friends!
Goodness gracious, what did I tell you about that warm sunset light?! Easily one of my many favorites from this session. EASY.
Again, I loved this session with Chris & Jessica. They are always amazing, and I really hope they decide to do it again next year!
